Unlocking Policy

Clarity Wireless  does not employ or direct the employment of disabling, or “locking,” software that would prevent its customers from attempting to activate a device designed for one carrier’s network on another carrier’s network. If Clarity Wireless employs such software in the future, it will develop and publish an unlocking policy consistent with the principles set forth in the CTIA Consumer Code for Wireless Service. Please note that although Clarity Wireless does not “lock” its devices, that does not necessarily mean that devices purchased for Clarity Wireless network are technologically compatible with other carriers’ networks.

ACP Phones/ Goverment Plans: Clarity Wireless has entered into an agreement with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding handset unlocking. Clarity Wireless will begin launching handsets that are capable of being unlocked.

Clarity Wireless subscribers with handsets which cannot be unlocked may be eligible for a partial refund or credit toward a new handset. This program is subject to the following requirements:

  • Customers must request handset unlocking.

  • Customers must have had their locked device activated on Clarity Wireless service for no fewer than 12 months, redeemed air time cards in no fewer than 12 months, and not have had their telephone number recycled or ported.

  • Customers must request this interim unlocking solution while their service is active or within 60 days after their active service days expire. This 60-day grace period applies even if the customer's telephone number was recycled or ported.

  • Customers must currently own a Clarity Wireless branded handset model launched on Clarity Wireless service after May 5, 2021.

  • Customers must possess a handset that is in working condition.

  • Customers must possess a handset that is not reported stolen, lost, or associated with fraudulent activity.

  • If a customer requesting handset unlocking is deployed military personnel, upon provision of deployment papers, Clarity Wireless will honor that customer's unlocking request by sending a refund for the Trade-in Value of the used, locked phone returned by the customer without regard for the 12 months of service activation and air card redemption eligibility requirements. However, all other eligibility criteria apply to Clarity Wireless customers who are deployed military personnel.

  • Customers are eligible for this program only once every twelve months.

After an eligible customer contacts Clarity Wireless to request the trade-in value of his or her handset, Clarity Wireless will provide a prepaid mailer for the customer to return the used, locked handset. Upon receipt of the device, Clarity Wireless will send the customer a check for the trade-in value of the handset. The trade-in value is determined by a formula reached through agreement with the FCC. An eligible customer may elect to have the trade-in value of their handset applied to the cost of a new Clarity Wireless handset that is capable of being unlocked.
Clarity Wireless may refuse any unlocking request that would result in an abuse of its Unlocking Policy or is part of an effort to defraud Clarity Wireless or its customers. Clarity Wireless Unlocking Policy is subject to change at any time without advance notice.

Customers who would like to check if they are eligible or submit a request can do so through  calling customer service at 1-877-870-8901.
